Pacific Barista Series™ Welcomes You to Portland!
As the 2023 Specialty Coffee Expo approaches, we at Pacific Foods Barista Series™ couldn’t be more excited.
We look forward to every Expo, as it’s our once-a-year chance to connect with all our friends in the global specialty-coffee community under one roof. But this year’s Expo is extra special to us for one big reason: It’s taking place in our hometown of Portland, Oregon!
Pacific Foods® is an Oregon-based company making soups, broths, and other nourishing foods. We were one of the pioneers of offering plant-based milks specifically crafted for coffee shops, and our Barista Series™ line of plant-based products—which includes Almond, Unsweetened Almond, Hemp, Oat, Coconut, Soy, and Vanilla Soy—is a mainstay in cafés around the country.
We launched Barista Series™ by visiting cafés in Portland and gathering the key input of coffee professionals to optimize the products’ performance. Those visits strengthened our bond with the Portland specialty-coffee community—which we already knew was one of the best in the world—and gave us a special pride about the Portland coffee scene. In 2022, we relocated our offices from the Portland suburb of Tualatin to the food-and-coffee mecca of inner Southeast Portland, and we feel a stronger bond than ever with our local specialty-coffee culture. (Psst … our new offices are not far from the Oregon Convention Center hosting Expo!)
We’re always ecstatic when Portland hosts coffee events, and we are even more thrilled when it hosts the biggest event in coffee with the Specialty Coffee Expo. This year’s Expo holds even more meaning for us because of the 2020 Expo, which was scheduled for Portland but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We were so thrilled for the event that year and were set to be the Title Sponsor of the 2020 Expo and welcome attendees with a range of special festivities. Global events of course made it impossible for that Expo to take place, but it just makes us more grateful that the 2023 event is returning to Portland.
Pacific Barista Series will be busy during Expo, as usual. We’ll be exhibiting in Booth #2267, where we will offer delicious drinks made with Barista Series™ products and served by world-class baristas from some of the country’s top specialty-coffee companies, Onyx Coffee Lab and Black & White. We’re also the Title Sponsor of the 2023 U.S. Coffee Championships, which will take place on the show floor during Expo. The full slate of national competitions will be happening at this year’s Expo: the U.S. Barista Championship, Brewers Cup Championship, Coffee in Good Spirits Championship, Cup Tasters Championship, Roaster Championship, and Latte Art Championship. We can’t wait to see the competitors demonstrate their skills and passion on the national stage.
Portland has faced some adversity in recent years, as we all have in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges. We still have enormous pride in our city, and the dedicated coffee professionals in Portland continue to work their hardest to deliver exceptional experiences for their customers.
